Before you can collect payments, we need to verify your company and the people who own or control it. This is a legal requirement for all payment providers.

This article walks through every screen and shows exactly what goes where. Most people finish in 10 to 15 minutes.

Before you start

Have these ready for every Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) and Director:

  • A valid photo ID: passport, driving licence, or national ID card

  • A proof of address dated within the last 3 months: bank statement, utility bill, or government issued document

  • Their date of birth, email address, and mobile number

You will also need your company registration number and country of incorporation.

Allow a few minutes of processing time per identity check.

Getting started

Step 1. Open your verification link

You will receive a secure verification link by email. Opening it brings you to a confirmation screen. Only continue if you trust the source of the link. If it looks suspicious, close the page and contact us before going any further. When you are ready, select Continue.

Step 2. Review and accept the privacy notice

Read the Privacy Notice and the Notification to Processing of Personal Data. US residents will also see a biometric data consent notice. Once you have reviewed these, select Agree and continue.

Step 3. Check your progress overview

You will see the three stages ahead: Complete questionnaire, Provide company details, and Provide associated parties. Select Start verification.

Business questionnaire

A short set of questions helps us understand how your business will use the platform.

Step 4. Describe the nature of your business

Type a short description of what your business does in the Nature of Business field. One or two lines is enough.

Step 5. Estimate your monthly transaction volume

Select the band that best matches your expected monthly transaction volume in your local currency. An estimate is fine.

Step 6. Estimate your monthly invoice count

Select how many invoices you expect to collect or pay each month, then select Continue.

Find and confirm your company

Step 7. Search for your company

Confirm your country of company registration, enter your company name, then select Find company. If your company is registered in a country with a searchable registry, we will find it automatically.

Step 8. Review your registry details

We pull in your registration number, registered address, and other details from the official company registry. This is extracted automatically, so read it carefully and correct anything inaccurate before you continue.

Adding an owner or director

Every company must list its associated parties: the people or companies who own or control it. At a minimum you need to add anyone who is an Ultimate Beneficial Owner (generally anyone with more than 25% ownership) or a Director.

Step 9. Start adding an associated party

Review the Required roles, then select + Add individual. If an associated party is itself a company, select + Add company instead.

Step 10. Open the roles dropdown

Open the Assign roles dropdown to set this person's role in the company.

Step 11. Select their role

Tick UBO and/or Director, then select Save. You can select both if the same person holds both roles.

Step 12. Enter their first name

With the role set, enter the person's first name.

Step 13. Complete their personal details

Enter their last name, middle name if they have one, date of birth, and email address. Names must match their photo ID exactly.

Step 14. Add their contact number

Enter their mobile number and select Create beneficiary. This sends them their own identity check, covered next.

Verifying an individual's identity

Each UBO and Director completes their own short identity check, either on this device or on their phone.

Step 15. Begin the identity check

The individual will see two steps: Provide identity document and Provide address information. Select Start verification.

Step 16. Choose the ID document type and country

Select the issuing country of the ID document and the document type, such as passport, driving licence, or national ID card. Then select Continue.

Step 17. Upload proof of address

Upload a document showing the individual's address: a valid ID with an address on it, a bank document, a utility bill, or a government issued document. It must be dated within the last 3 months. Select Upload document, or Continue on phone to use your phone camera instead.

Step 18. Wait for the check to complete

The documents are checked automatically. This usually takes a few minutes. Once it is done, repeat the process for any other UBOs or Directors, then submit your associated parties for review.

If you get stuck

My company does not appear in the search.

Check the country of registration is correct, then search using your registered legal name rather than your trading name. If it still does not appear, contact your account manager.

The registry details are wrong.

Correct them on screen before continuing. The details are pulled automatically and are not always up to date.

There is more than one owner or director.

Add them one at a time. Repeat steps 9 to 18 for each person, then submit once everyone is added.

A document was rejected.

Make sure the whole document is in frame, in focus, and not cropped at the edges. Proof of address must be dated within the last 3 months.

The name does not match.

Personal details must match the photo ID exactly, including middle names.

Still stuck? Contact your NRTH account manager and we will pick it up with you.
