How do I move my existing Direct Debit mandates to NRTH?

Switching platforms sounds like a headache, but not with us. NRTH handles the entire back-end migration, so you move across without re-papering or re-authorising a single customer.

This is the process for moving 25 or more mandates across in one go. If you're moving fewer than 25, there's usually an easier option. See Moving fewer than 25 mandates? below.

Here's what the process looks like and, more importantly, what we'll need from you to make it happen.

How to get started

There are three easy ways to kick things off. Pick whichever suits you:

  1. Book a call with us. We'll walk you through the simple process and handle all the back-end migration of your existing Direct Debit mandates.

  2. Use the Support button on the platform. One of our agents will provide you with the form to fill out, and we'll take care of the rest.

  3. Email us at [email protected] expressing your interest in migrating your existing mandates from platforms such as GoCardless, Adfin, AccessPay etc. You can also contact your dedicated sales contact directly.

Once you've reached out, we'll guide you through every stage.

What we'll need from you

To migrate your mandates cleanly, there's some information only you (and your current provider) can supply. Having these ready up front keeps everything moving:

  • Your existing collection details: the dates of your current collections so nothing is missed or duplicated.

  • Your current provider details, including the relevant scheme reference numbers and the number of mandates being moved across.

  • Your customer data file, exported in the CSV format we specify. We'll provide the template and tell you exactly when we need it.

  • Confirmation you've notified your customers. We'll give you a pre-approved notification template. It simply tells your customers their Direct Debit reference on their bank statement is changing. Sending it is essential: it prevents claims and stops customers cancelling a mandate that's been re-set up as part of the move.

We check every file before anything goes live, flag any errors (such as incorrect bank details), and help you get it right before re-testing.

The key dates to know

Every migration runs to three dates we'll agree with you in advance:

  • Date of last collection: your final collection on your current platform.

  • Date of transfer: when your mandates move across to NRTH.

  • Date of first collection: your first collection on the new platform.

There's a short window between your last collection and your first new one where no collections are taken. This is a normal and unavoidable part of any migration, and we'll plan around it with you.

You can begin collecting 6 working days after the date of transfer.

A couple of things to keep in mind

  • Plan ahead. There are external restrictions on this process that mean it can't be rushed, so it's worth getting started in good time. Once we know your collection dates, we'll agree a clear timeline with you.

  • Your customers don't need to lift a finger. The mandates move across automatically, with no action or re-authorisation required from your payers.

  • Payments and subscriptions aren't carried over. The migration moves the mandates themselves; any ongoing payments or subscriptions need to be set up again afterwards. We'll help you get these in place so collections can resume smoothly.

  • It's completely cost-free. There's no charge for migrating your existing mandates across to NRTH.

Moving fewer than 25 mandates?

If you're only moving a small number of mandates, a full back-end migration usually isn't worth the wait. In most cases it's quicker and simpler to set up fresh Direct Debit mandates directly in NRTH. Your customers approve a new mandate once, and you're collecting straight away with none of the transfer lead time.

Not sure which route is right for you? Book a call or use the Support button and we'll recommend the best approach for your numbers.

In short

You bring the details and the customer data; we handle the heavy lifting. Most clients are surprised by how little they actually have to do.
